Strategic
Assessment

Before jumping into the editing, we can provide strategic advice on how to develop and present your project to its most important audiences.

Depending on the project, we consider the purpose of the document, the needs of the key audience, content that could benefit from further development, conditions that may influence how the document is received, and its overall readability and alignment with project goals.

This assessment provides a strong foundation for the editing that follows.

Editing

We review your drafts (or help craft the first one), recommend changes, and provide the right type and level of editing for your project.

Not every document needs the same approach. We work with you to determine what will have the greatest impact.

Our Services

  • Structural Editing

Editing for logic, flow, and style

Considers the big picture: Does the document work well overall?

Usually completed on an early draft, structural editing focuses on organizing content for logic and flow, developing clear and consistent descriptive headings, addressing repetition and gaps, and identifying where graphics or other visual elements could improve clarity. We also consider whether the document supports its purpose and meets the needs of its audience. Structural editing may include writing or developing new content.

  • Stylistic Editing

Editing for logic, flow, and style

Considers how the writing works at the paragraph and sentence level: Does it read well?

We improve phrasing, transitions, voice, tone, readability, and accessibility. Stylistic editing is especially important when contributions from multiple specialists need to be harmonized into one coherent, credible, and decision-ready document.

  • Copy Editing

    Editing for consistency and accuracy

Considers whether a document is consistent and correct.

Usually completed after structural and stylistic editing, copy editing involves a detailed review of spelling, grammar, punctuation, usage, terminology, numbers, references, formatting, and alignment with the organization’s style guide or other editorial requirements.

The result is a document that is consistent, accurate, and ready for final production.

  • Proofreading

    Editing for precision and polish

Considers whether a document is ready to publish.

Completed after copy editing and layout are finished, proofreading is the final quality-control review. We check for remaining errors such as typos, missing words, incorrect punctuation or page numbers, broken cross-references, formatting inconsistencies, and missing or incorrect source information.

The result is a polished, publication-ready document.
