Lisa D. Orchard is Scribe Technical’s lead consultant. An award-winning plain language specialist, she ensures her clients’ complex, behind-the-scenes work is understood and has an impact – whether they need to secure a decision from a tough audience, move a project forward with colleagues, or build support with a skeptical public.

I’ve written and edited countless documents, independently and collaboratively, in different voices, and from different points of view. I understand how decisions get made and how to communicate professional expertise so that it is heard and taken seriously. My focus is on delivering the clear, polished, high-quality documents my clients need to influence their readers and achieve their goals.
— Lisa Orchard

Prior to launching Scribe Technical in 2019, Lisa worked in policy, research, and public engagement roles with non-profits and local and provincial governments. This experience gave her a deep understanding of the policies, politics, and relationships that shape decision making. She knows clear, credible documents can influence decisions, build support, strengthen relationships, and help experts move their great ideas forward.

Lisa has an Honours BA in Political Science and an MSc in Planning, both from the University of Toronto, as well as a postgraduate certificate in Technical Communication from George Brown College. In 2026, under her leadership, Scribe Technical received a ClearMark Award from the Center for Plain Language. She also serves on the board of Plain Canada Clair.
